Happy New Beginnings!

Image
New Year, new beginnings, new studio...  My colleague Hagit and me decided to combine our knowledge and skills into one team and launched the TANDEM - creative graphic design studio. This greeting card is our first common project. It is not so easy to work in tandem, but I think at least we've succeeded.  Here are some process - sketches, different proposals for character design and illustration style and so on:   O n the occasion of the coming 2013, I'm wishing you very happy, creative and prosper New Year!

Hanukkah Candle Lighting Tour in Jerusalem

Image
Hanukkah's holidays are over - a lot of family meetings, tasty food and light, of course. Last Saturday we've took a trek through the burning oil laps in the Old City of Jerusalem. The experience was magnified with the special atmosphere of Jerusalem, the glowing candles in the darkness of the night. Here are some photos and sketches. selling pomegranate juice near walls of the Old City

Sketching in Old Jaffa

Image
This Saturday we went with our youngest daughter to see a show in a theater in Old Jaffa. It was a beautiful day, so we strolled Jaffa's colorful streets after the show. And of course, I took the opportunity to sketch. We ended up at Puah - it was a perfect day!

At the heart of the public garden

Image
I want to share some process of illustrating  the story for the last " Einayim " magazine. The issue subject was "garden". This time the writer Shoham Smith invited me to come with her together to look for the story. We met in Gan Meir in the heart of Tel Aviv and strolled in the garden together, trying to find the story. Shoham shared with me her ideas and I tried to sketch them up and also I've took a lot of pictures. It was fun! Next step was making sketches in the studio: After series of sketches the final illustration was approved. The story is about a homeless, sitting on the bench and feeling invisible for the visitors of the garden. Here is the final illustrations. As usual, the process is more enjoyable than seeing the finished illustration printed. But that's what's stay with as at least - the result.

Back to routine

8 very tensed days, full of despair and hate in the air and missiles falling on the both sides, are over and we can back to routine. Hope that one day we can find the solution for the peace in the Middle  East. listening to the announcement about the fire cease You can call it escapism, but at these days I just trying to hold tighter my family and cause me to appreciate all these small moments, very usual and very beautiful.

Pages from my US sketchbook - part 1

Finally our longest and farthest family trip is behind us. Three weeks of traveling across the US West Coast was fabulous, full of great family experiences and unforgettable moments. Nature and cites, coasts and deserts, and, of course, people, so many different people - a lot of great memories! I didn't expect to use my sketchbook much on our trip - after all it was a family trip and I wanted to enjoy some special time with my children and husband. But, of course, I brought my sketchbook along and I'm very happy with the result! Most of sketches were done during our meals or some while waiting, but even they tell me great stories, and remind me of tiny details that I would be sure to forget if I hadn't sketched them. It starts as usual from some airport sketches - the beginning of the trip, when everything is ahead, a lot of expectations... We've landed at Las Vegas - city than got everything inside - fake Paris, fake Venice, fake Rome... impressive, but...
